Reading list thanks to Cameron:
End of America – Naomi Watts
– Enjoyed thoroughly
– Plenty of facts to back up her opinions
– Plenty of controversial points to make lunch time fun
The Omnivore’s Dilemma – Michael Pollan
– Enjoyed immensely and will have a life long affect on how I live my life
– Seriously considering becoming a farmer. Should probably try out life on the farm first though.
Freakonomics – Steven D. Levitt & Stephen J. Dubner
– Enjoying (still reading), but writing style and degree of professional journalism doesn’t seem to match the calibar of the first two. Don’t know why.
– Makes for great trivial pursuit material
Also stumbled upon Sicko (Michael Moore) on the flight to Tanzania. Cried when watching it and then cried again when thinking back on the state of the health care system in the United States and all those suffering with it. Going to Cuba to get examined by a doctor?! Nothing against Cuba, just everything against the US for us letting this happen.
And now I get caught up in watching Bushism for the past couple of days. It will be a miracle if my view of America is still anything positive by the end of February. Mark February 2008 as the month where I learned what it really means to be an American.
